Ron Arad

Ron Arad best known for his sheet metal furniture and his book worm book shelf.

A lot of Ron’s work is very clean cut and shaped because of his large use of sheet metal.

A lot of his designs look very sharp and some how comfy even though they are very industrial and straight lined.

Ron also does work in plastics too because of the expense is a lot smaller then usingmetal.

One of his best known plastic pieces is the bookworm bookshelf. The book shelf can be re-moulded to fit the space that is available.

I think his designs are really interesting to look at and very unique. I like the way he uses sheet metal which is then moulded to the finish he wants them, for some reason in my head I see the way he makes it in my own head as almost a conveyer belt with a big press at the end all all these moulded chairs being pressed out one after the other when actually a lot of his furniture is bespoke.
